My enthusiasm for writing about animals began as a child with the creation of picture books about pets. I pursued a bachelor’s degree in print media (minor in broadcasting) and a master’s in journalism and mass communications in the United States.
I gained journalism experience as a newspaper reporter and later feature writer overseas and in Australia. I volunteered my skills for the RSPCA’s media and education units and then got my paw into Dogs Life magazine as editorial assistant and later became Editor and then Managing Editor of PETS and Choosing Your Dog magazines.
I now freelance in the pet industry. I am a member of the Pet Industry Association of Australia, Pets Australia, Dogs NSW, the Anatolian Shepherd Dog Club of NSW and the Australian Canine Scent Work Association. I am also a member of the Public Relations Institute of Australia (PRIA).
I also have a personal interest in helping children with learning disabilities and their families. I am Secretary for the Learning Difficulties Coalition of NSW, which provides support and information about children (5-18yrs) with learning difficulties and related conditions.
I share my home in Sydney with my husband Erick, daughters Yasemin and Isabel, and our Anatolian Shepherd Dog, Cruz, with wonderful memories of our Dobermanns Logan and Chase, who left us in 2011.
