My enthusiasm for writing about animals began as a child with the creation of picture books about pets. I pursued a bachelor’s degree in print media (minor in broadcasting) and a master’s in journalism and mass communications in the United States.
I gained journalism experience as a newspaper reporter and later feature writer overseas and in Australia. I volunteered my skills for the RSPCA’s media and education units and then got my paw into Dogs Life magazine as editorial assistant and later became Editor and then Managing Editor of PETS and Choosing Your Dog magazines.
I now freelance in the pet industry, writing magazine articles and doing PR, including my role as PR & Social Media Co-ordinator for the Australian-based international charity Vets Beyond Borders.
I am a member of the Anatolian Shepherd Dog Club of NSW, the Australian Canine Scent Work Association, Sydney Metropolitan Wildlife Services (as a rescuer/carer) and the Public Relations Institute of Australia (PRIA).
I am also PR & clinic volunteer for Pets in the Park charity that cares for pets owned by people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.
I also have a personal interest in helping children with learning disabilities and their families. I am Secretary for the Learning Difficulties Coalition of NSW, which provides support and information about children (5-18yrs) with learning difficulties and related conditions.
I share my home in Sydney with my husband Erick, daughters Yasemin and Isabel, our Anatolian Shepherd Dog Cruz. We cherish wonderful memories of sweet Joe, our Peach Faced Love Bird, Snowy the Molly fish and our Dobermanns Logan and Chase.
